Description

CIA has been working in North Carolina since the middle of October when Hurricane Matthew caused historic floods throughout much of the state. We have been mucking out and gutting homes that were flooded, using chains saws and heavy equipment to remove fallen trees. You can see some of what we've done and the people we've helped on our Vimeo channel. You can also see photos on our facebook page.

As this community enters the next phase of recovery and rebuilding, our work is coming to an end. Friday (December 9th) we will be packing up and traveling back to Virginia with all of our equipment and tools. When we get there we need help to "Demobilize" putting everything back in storage trailers, reorganizing things and getting everything set so we are ready to roll the next time we are called on to respond to a major disaster. We'll be doing everything from cleaning out/washing vehicles and trailers to sorting rakes & shovels, moving heavy equipment and preparing our cooking equipment for storage. We anticipate arriving on the 9th (Friday) and begining demobilization on Saturday morning, December 10, at 10AM. Because the hazards are reduced, for this event we are accepting volunteers as young as 13 when accompanied by an adult. Please register below, let us know when you are available. Thank you for being willing to help us!
