Christ In Action has deployed to West Virginia in response to the recent floods. They are calling this a 1,000 year flood event, with 44 counties in WV declaring a state of emergency. We are deployed and working in Greenbrier County. We are working on mucking and gutting homes that have been flooded as well as removing fallen trees and debris that has washed up far from where it was before the flood. We also have our shower unit running and open to the community (as well as volunteers) from 7AM-7PM every day of the week - this is especially needed in this community as there is NO running water at all and we have to use our tank trailer to haul in water to use; even the residents who still have homes won't have water for weeks.

You can check out more images from our deployment on Facebook

We are burning through diesel, food, water, and most supplies you might imagine on this deployment. We need people who can come and volunteer with us, and people who can support this deployment financially, in addition to covering the residents and our teams in prayer. If you would like to send us something other than money, please go to our Amazon Wishlist (updated daily) to see what items we currently need (other than diesel fuel) that you can have shipped directly to us!

Volunteer registration is open. Volunteers need to be able to commit to a minimum of 3 full working days (7am - 6pm). As always, we will provide a place to stay, 3 meals/day, hot showers, and as much work as you can handle. It is essential that you register and get your dates confirmed at least 24 hours before you plan to arrive/volunteer. We cannot provide transportation to our site -- that is your responsibility.

If you live in Greenbrier County, West Virginia, have been personally affected by the flood and need residential assistance, Christ In Action can help with muck outs, gutting homes, downed trees, or large debris clean-up at absolutely no cost. Within 24-48 hours of submitting your request, one of our staff will call you to setup an appointment to meet you at your property. If you live in another county in West Virginia affected by the floods you can fill out this form and we will refer you to another organization working in your area. We cannot guarantee response times from other organizations. Click on the "request help" button below, call our assistance line at 571-358-9242, or email us.
